On my last trip to Mecca (yes I know – I am there a lot. Well it is my favourite shop!) I picked up the Two Faced collab with Nikkie Tutorials – The Power of Makeup Palette. Being limited edition I had to make sure I didn’t miss out!
I was quite intrigued by this set as I really enjoy watching Nikkie’s you-tube channel. This girl is talented! If you haven’t already checked her out, you need to!
The boxed set included the palette as well as a little bag of goodies. The pink, black and gold leopard print zip lock bag included a full sized black Sketch Marker eyeliner, small size Shadow Insurance eye shadow primer, Glamour Dust in Glitterally and a small size Better Than Sex mascara in limited edition purple! So where do I start!
The Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is a sample size in limited edition purple, which is just too cute. Great size for travelling! I LOVE this mascara, my eyelashes look huge! and I don’t even mind the purple colour! It doesn’t jump out and scream hello! But is a great hint of colour to the lashes. I am in love!
The Shadow Insurance is a 5 g (0.17oz) tube. 24+ hour anti-crease eye shadow primer. I hadn’t used this product before. I do however use and love the Too Faced Glitter Glue – I am a true glitter junkie wearing glitter any chance I get! The Shadow Insurance has impressed me. I love how my eye shadow’s go on smoothly, making blending a whole lot easier. Will definitely be buying this again.
I was super excited about the Glamour Dust in Glitterally. It is only small (1g/0.035oz), but would be great to take away when travelling light – oh who am I kidding, I would take it no matter what size! Looking into the jar it looks silver and white, but once on, it has a gold reflect as well depending on the angle. Stunning!
The Black Sketch Marker is a full size. It is black in colour and doesn’t move or smudge once on. I am not 100% convinced I will love this. It skips and jumps when I am trying to line my eyes. I do have uneven skin on my eyelids, so I do struggle to find a good liquid liner that makes my life easy. Let me know if you have this trouble and have found your ride or die liquid liner. I am seriously on the hunt!
There is also a cute Glamour guide enclosed. There are three different looks with photos and step by step guide to recreating these looks. They are super easy to follow and gorgeous to boot.
So now into the palette. Nine eyeshadows, two blushes, bronzer and highlight all packaged in a cute pink, gold and black leopard print palette. Just so cute and the perfect size to travel with giving you heaps of options for makeup looks.
I will start at the top and work my way down.
Starting off the first row of eyeshadows is Ivy – matte white. I like this for a matte under brow highlight when not wanting to use a shimmer (usually during the day) and also on the inner corner. Pigment wise, its not too bad, but I do find I need to build it up when using it all over the lid and I am wanting it more opaque. For a sheer flush of colour it works great.
Sugar Coated – shimmery pink. Cute colour but I did have trouble getting a full opaque colour on the lid. Needed to keep building it up. But I do like my shimmers to standout for miles.
Frosted Yum – shimmery silver. I haven’t used this colour yet. I don’t wear a lot of silver but the swatch was similar to Sugar Coated.
Second Row: Irresistible – shimmery gold. This is gorgeous! Comes up great on the lid. I used my finger tip to get the best application.
Painkiller – matte light cool toned brown. This is a great transition colour. Similar in colour to the chocolate Soleil bronzer, just a cool version. I use this one quite regularly on a day to day basis when creating a brown day time look.
Makeup & Chill – matte gorgeous dark brown, a little on the cool side. The pigment is great on this one, you definitely get awesome colour payoff.
Third Row: Mystic Hour – greeny blue shimmer. Gorgeous colour that swatches beautifully! I found it loses its shimmer when blending, so had to keep building this one up. For the full shimmer effect, I think applying with your finger is the best. Absolutely gorgeous on!
Wham Bam – vibrant purple shimmer. This swatches beautifully with lots of pigment and a gorgeous colour. I haven’t used this one, as I don’t tend to wear purple very often but it swatches like Mystic Hour so I am expecting it to be similar in pigment going on the lid.
Wanted – matte black. Not the darkest black I have used, but still a nice black.
The two Love Flush Long-Lasting Blushes are: I will always love you – Peach toned with a gold sparkle to it. Gorgeous colour, but I tend to stay away from blushes with sparkle as my skin is uneven and I don’t want to draw attention to that. So have found myself using it as an eyeshadow on my lids when looking for a cute peach shade.
Justify my love – matte pink. This is quite cute on giving a nice pink glow to the cheeks.
And lastly the bronzer and highlight: Chocolate Soleil – one of my favourite bronzers at the moment, so handy to have it in a palette.
Champagne Truffle – gorgeous light pink highlight, but i feel it is too light for my skin tone and would be more suited to the fairer cool toned queens out there. For me? A great inner corner highlight or even on the eye lid for a shimmery pink toned look.
Wow! This ended up being a huge blog post! There was so much to write about. All in all I do love this set and I’m glad I grabbed it while I could. Well done to Nikkie and Too Faced.
