My Favourite Coconut Oil Beauty Uses

Coconut oil has been a hit in the health world for so many reasons. But is it really a great beauty hack? I’ve always been skeptical of DIY beauty hacks so I was doubtful on the coconut trend but I thought I would give some of them a go. Just to see for myself. Today I am sharing my favourite Coconut Oil beauty uses.

Coconut Oil Cleansing Balm

Being someone that loves to wear makeup every day, I have embraced the beauty craze of double cleansing. If you haven’t heard of this before, it doesn’t mean using your cleanser twice. Its using two different cleansers to ensure your skin is perfectly clean. Some people use and love Micellar water others use oils and balms to dissolve the makeup first. I’m not a huge fan of Micellar water. I just didn’t feel like they got enough of the makeup and grime off. Some even left a residue on my skin, which affected how my makeup would apply. But I love using coconut oil. Not only is it affordable but it melts the makeup away while nourishing my skin. I just grab half a teaspoon and massage all over my face, including my eyes. The makeup melts away. I then use a wet Enjo Makeup Remover disc to wipe it off. But you could also use a wet cotton round as well. I then follow up with a cleanser in the shower. Voila, makeup is gone without a trace and my skin feels amazing ready for my serums and creams. Plus its super affordable!

Coconut Oil and Bic Carb Soda Beauty uses

Coconut Oil and Bicarb Soda Exfoliation

I love a good exfoliation. I have learnt over the years that my skin just doesn’t seem to exfoliate as fast as it should, so I never skip this step. Someone recently said they use bicarb soda mixed with coconut oil to exfoliate. This made me curious so I started researching it. Sure enough this has been something that people have used for years, mixed with a water based cleanser. Not only their face, but all over the body.

It is gentle enough to use all over the face, even on the lips. My skin feels amazing afterwards. I use it twice a week but if you are a little on the sensitive side, try once a week first.

Coconut Oil for Shaving

I have also enjoyed using coconut oil for shaving my legs. My skin always looks so dry and flakey after shaving and I hate using heavy moisturisers as I just feel greasy and yuck, especially in our summer humidity. I have started using coconut oil while shaving instead of soap and my skin feels and looks great. Just make sure you use plenty of oil when you shave, otherwise you can end up with razor burn/rash. I learnt that one that hard way. OUCH!
