Maybelline Master Blush Palette

Review | Maybelline Master Blush Palette

Blush is something I have only started wearing in the last few years. It was something I always avoided. My reason? Acne was always the worst on my cheeks. I felt that blush just drew more colour and attention to the area I hated the most. Now that my acne is clear (and my makeup skills have improved over the years) I can’t leave the house without it. I love that it brings a flush of colour to my cheeks. So is the new Maybelline Master Blush Palette a hit or miss.

Now I don’t have a lot of pink or rose coloured blushes. I am always drawn to orange tones…Surprise, Surprise. However there are days I need that perfect pink tone blush for those rare pink or burgandy days. So when Maybelline came out with this Master Blush Palette I wanted to try it out. So when it was on sale (40% off at my local Woolworths) I decided to grab it and give it a go.

The palette is their usual standard as seen on their other Palettes. It is a hard black plastic with a clear window on the front. I do like having the clear front as it is easy to see what colours are inside at a glance. This however means there is no mirror inside. The palette clips closed and holds 3 blush colours and one highlighter.

There are three different shades making this quite a versatile palette. There is also a ‘universal’ (Maybelline’s words) highlighter as well. The three blushes are extremely pigmented. I cannot believe how much colour comes off. The first time I used it I had to grab a big fluffy brush with a little powder to try and buff it out. So I highly suggest you use a light hand. The colours blend nicely and I often mix two together to create a colour that suits my look. This works great!

The highlighter is, well, in my opinion not universal. I am medium toned and more on the yellow side and I just don’t feel like it is a great colour on my skin. Its not overly pigmented or buttery like some of my other highlighters. It is actually a little powdery. It is very subtle but I don’t find it lasts overly well either. So it is not something I bother to use. I  don’t really think it is very useful for an inner corner highlight either. Just not enough bang or sparkle for my liking.

Final Thoughts

Maybelline have done a great job with this blush palette. I really like how bright and pretty the colours are. If you are more on the paler side when it comes to skin colours, I would be worried these may be a little too bright. But might be ok with a very light hand. The highlighter is a waste of space in the palette for me. You can probably see in some of the photos the powdery look around the highlighter against the black packaging. It just doesn’t have the same quality as the blushes. Which is really disappointing.

If you have tried this palette let me know your thoughts below. Did you like the highlighter? Or have you tried their bronzer palette? Do you think its worth me getting this one to try? xx
