Hits & Misses | May 2017

It is June which means Winter in Australia. Winter is not really my favourite season of the year. But in saying that, where we live our winters are fairly mild with majority of our days getting to the mid twenties so I can’t really complain.

Being June also means it is time for another Hit and Miss post. May was a crazy busy month in my world but I survived and in three weeks time I will have two weeks off work as it will be school holidays (one of the perks of working in a school). So I am looking forward to the break and hopefully some time to spend working on my blog and Instagram page.

Designer Brand Flawless Bronzing Stick

This is the first product I have tried from this brand and I am really enjoying it. I have used it every day since I bought it as my contour. It is easy to use and super easy to blend in. It is perfect for an everyday contour without being too heavy or over powering. Sits nicely over any of the foundations I have used with it and I top it off with my Urban Decay Beached Bronzer to set it in place. I will be looking at some more products from this brand in the near future.

The company claims:

  • Perfect for creating an all over bronze or defining the features
  • Extremely buildable and blendable formula for streak free application
  • Enriched with Aloe Vera, Q10 and Hyaluronic Acid
  • Vegan and not tested on Animals

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

I am excited about this brand and I posted a review on this baby last week (if you haven’t read it you can find it here). This is my new best friend in my skin care routine. I love how my skin is looking and feeling since I started using it! The price is beyond unbelievable at $12.80! Excited to try others in this range.

Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer

If you follow me you know I am a huge fan of Nikkia Joy (#oilyskinsisters). If you have an oily skin type like me then this girl is your best friend. One of her favourite primers is the Hourglass Mineral Veil. This primer is not cheap but thankfully they do sell it in a smaller/travel size otherwise I would never had tried it. I am so glad I did! It feels gorgeous going on and leaves a subtle brightening to the skin, has 15+ SPF, helps blur fine lines and keeps my makeup on all day! Love Love Love this primer!

Company Claims: ‘This satin-finish, oil-free mineral primer creates a porcelain-smooth complexion, that will give your foundation longevity like no other whilst minimising shine and protecting against sun damage.’

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

I have also posted a review on this girl recently but I had to mention her here as I haven’t stopped using it since I got it. For a drugstore concealer this one is my favourite. I don’t tend to use it for highlighting as the colour is not quite right for that, but for covering those dark circles she is the bomb!

Company Claims: ‘Formula with Goji Berry and Haloxyl work to decrease under eye puffiness, erase dark circles and erase fine lines.’

Bliss Lid and Lash Wash Makeup Remover

If you watch my Instagram stories you would have seen my opinion on this one. I don’t like bagging a product but this for me was a huge miss. It was useless at removing my mascara and I wasn’t even using a waterproof one! I ended up with black all around my eye and didn’t matter how much product I used it didn’t budge. From memory this wasn’t cheap either. I picked it up from Priceline on a 40% sale (thankfully) but I am sure I still paid around the $15 mark for it. Sadly this ended up in the bin nearly full. I hate wasting money of dude products.

So that is it for this months Hits and Misses. If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen that I am attempting a ‘No Buy June’. I am hoping I survive all of the sales without buying anything. It is only the 3rd of the month as I am writing this and man I am already struggling. A fellow instagrammer assures me that once you get through the first week it is easy. Wish me luck!!
