The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

Review | The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

If you haven’t heard of the brand The Ordinary then you must be living under a rock. It is all over social media as the new big thing and everyone is jumping on board with the hype, including me! So is it worth the hype?

In Australia you can purchase The Ordinary products from Adore Beauty with free postage over $20. I have ordered from them a lot over the last few years and never had any dramas. The only problem with the hype on this brand, not everything was in stock. So being unreally sure of what to try and some products unavailable I only ordered two for my first trial of the brand.

The Brand:

The Ordinary is a brand under the umbrella company DECIEM. They pride themselves on providing effective clinical technologies that are honest and at an affordable price. In their words – “Clinical formulations with integrity”. There is no testing on animals and they do not pay others to do so. All of their products are free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, benzalkonium chloride, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone.

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

Company Claims: ‘Hyaluronic Acid (HA) can attract up to 1,000 times its weight in water. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 uses a range of different molecular sizes, to ensure that HA is delivered at various levels of the skin. This formulation combines low-, medium- and high-molecular weight HA, as well as a next-generation HA crosspolymer at a combined concentration of 2% for multi-depth hydration in an oil-free formula. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 system is supported with the addition of Vitamin B5 which also enhances surface hydration.’

Why I chose it:

I usually use the ASAP Vitamin B serum morning and night and when I ran out I thought I would give this one a go. As The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 has vitamin B, I thought this may work as a cheaper alternative. If not? I hadn’t lost much cost wise and I could go back to my ASAP one.

The Packaging:

I am in love with the packaging. Black, white and grey are my favourite colours and as a brands logo and packaging not only is it simple, clean and crisp but perfect for my instagram photos! What more could a girl ask for.

The Hyaluronic Acid is in a frosted glass bottle (30mls) with the lid being a built in dropper. Being glass does make me a little nervous that I may drop it on my tiled floor and smash it.  However, it gives it an expensive feel without the price tag.

The Product:

It is a clear gel like formula and a little bit goes a long way. When applying the trick is to rub in it straight away otherwise it feels tacky and becomes hard to rub in. Once it soaks in the tackiness goes away and it drys without any residue and left my skin feeling soft.

The Verdict:

I am in love! I have been using it for a bout a month and my skin is looking the best it has in a very long time. I feel that it definitely adds hydration without added weight or grease. Once it soaks in my skin feels amazingly silky smooth and it looks more plump. I also apply it under my eyes before my eye cream and this has definitely improved the dryness and fine lines as well. I am not sure that I could live without it now, and for the price I will not need to.

The other product I purchased was the High Adherence Silicone Primer. I am still testing this one and will write a review in the near future. So keep an eye out for that. What have you tried from this range? I would love to hear your suggestions on what I should I try next. xx
